Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer Turns Sweet 16 May 4-10!

We might be only to be able to see white snow outside beyond our imaginations with icicles hanging off of houses and buildings everywhere.  Temperatures so frigid you can’t imagine that you truly have to go out into it. Snow days galore that affected local business including many of our participants.  Public transportation, traffic and parking are all major inconveniences right now.  This winter is one for the history books.
The days are staying lighter a little longer and we all hope for winter’s end to come sooner rather than later.  With spring comes the 16th Annual Boston Bakes for Breast …

335 in 113 in 2013!

Boston is in the process of healing. It will take time.  Strong and united Boston stands.  Listening to Stephen Colbert talk about Boston and who we are, humorous but true! Hearing the national anthem being sung at the Bruin game last night shows our unity and spirit.
The victims and their families are always in our thoughts.  It is still unimaginable but the strength of the community will unite everyone.  We will be dealing with this for a long time to come.  Next year, the Boston Marathon will be bigger and better than ever.
Fundraisers have begun to help and of …

Testing for Radon in Homes – Being a Cancer-Conscious Homeowner

My husband and I are looking to purchase our first home. The process has been very exciting and we have looked at dozens of homes in the past year. We think we have found one and are going through the process. Hopefully we will know in a few weeks!

Radon is a radioactive gas which comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in nearly all soils. It typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through …

Electric Pepper

black pepper from newsduniyaonline.com
Some people are shy when it comes to adding a peppery punch to their tuna salad. But personally, I like to spice things up in the kitchen.
Last week, as I was whipping up an omelette, I noticed the sub-par abilities of my pepper mill. I cranked and cranked, but the pepper only scantily dusted my breakfast.
And so, my hunt for the perfect mill began.
As I was browsing Williams-Sonoma online, I came across the Trudeau Graviti Electric Salt and Pepper Mills. Forget the old, out-dated mill that requires you to grind by hand. The Trudeau mills do all the …

Roche Brothers & Sudbury Farms and the tale of the Chocolate Chip Cooke!

Imagine my surprise many years ago when out of the blue I get a call from Roche Brothers and Sudbury Farms saying they want to be involved with Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer!  I felt as if I had won the lottery!  All locations of both Sudbury Farms and Roche Brothers in Massachusetts would be involved and selling packages of their chocolate chip cookies with our logo on it!   I felt as if I had arrived!  What a major step for us!
