Bakes for Breast Cancer Maine is kicking off from August 1st to 7th. Have you checked the locations in Maine where you can enjoy a dessert to benefit breast cancer research? From Portland to Bangor and beyond, restaurants, bakeries, cafes, delis, and supermarkets are waiting for you to enjoy or take home their special dessert that raises money for the research of Dr. Rachel Freedman.

Dr. Freedman has devoted herself to research the largest and least funded group of breast cancer patients, usually over 65. The funding from B4BC Maine will facilitate Dr. Freedmen’s  program, assisting the largest breast cancer group that has been overlooked.

We even have a chocolate shop that will deliver a delicious box of 8 chocolate caramels or peanut butter balls if you live within a 20-mile range of Lewiston. How can you say no to indulging in a dessert that is for charity? Our dessert options range from Maine signature whoopie pies to classic strawberry shortcakes. Bon Appetit! There is always a dessert that you can find that we know you will enjoy!

We are thankful for our kind and generous participants willing to make a difference in breast cancer research.

Edwards Brothers Supermarket, offering freshly baked Maine whoopie pies for the Maine event, said, “We are supporting this program because we believe that those who can help have an inherited obligation to do so. My brother and I have lost loved ones to cancer, as have many of our team members, so this is an easy program for us to support.”

So if you are willing to help fund breast cancer research like these participating establishments, get some desserts when you are grocery shopping or dining at one of our cafes or restaurants, or visiting Great Scott’s Mac Wagon in Windham. Afterward, it’s always good to post some lovely pictures on Instagram, hashtagging #B4BC!  We would love to see your photos!

If sweets are not your thing or you can’t have them, you can still get involved by making a donation for breast cancer research. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
