I arrive in Miami and the first stop is at Scully’s which I first found out about watching Guy Fieri’s DD&D on the Food Network. Since appearing on DD&D, it is now known as the World Famous Scully’s Tavern!
Guy was right when he said it was a bar with good food and not just good bar food, food you would not expect to find at just a bar! Scully’s had reasonably priced food with large portions.
The typical bar food of wings and burgers could not tempt me. It was the daily specials which is what I came for and I had a hard time picking what I wanted to have because there were so many good choices.
I never had a pork shank so why not try it; the waitress said it was great! When the plate arrived at the table it had a pork shank which was standing up on the plate surrounded by a brown rosemary sauce which was a tad to salty for someone who lives by salt. Unfortunately mashed potatoes were not on the menu that evening which would have gone perfectly with the pork shank, a baked potato was a good alternative. It took me a second to figure out how I was going to tackle the pork shank. The meat fell right off the bone. It was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful and way too much for me to finish; a doggy bag was in order.
Friday and Saturday live bands play and Metropolis Band was playing on Friday evening. I have heard how good the band is but unfortunately we were unable to make it back to hear them play. But I will go back to Scully’s and hopefully go back to hear the live music of Metropolis on another visit to Miami!
