Hello Readers! My name’s Alanna and I am a 22-year-old college senior working towards a degree in Writing and Communications. I have been a Boston resident for the past four years, with the exception of my quick international stint, during which I lived and studied in Galway, Ireland
Originally from Cape Cod, Mass., I have aspirations of someday being a famous author.

Cooking became a part of my life at a young age. My childhood friends and I would set up my father’s old video camera and film our own ‘cooking shows’. This meant we would fumble around the kitchen, dressed in my mothers aprons, as we attempted not to burn the house down. I still laugh about my most famous line, where, as I poured a heaping portion of frozen berries into a bowl I announced, “and then we add the blueberries, fresh from the … freezer.”

Unfortunately, my skills didn’t improve as quickly as I had hoped. My dad reminds me regularly that it wasn’t until rather late in life that I learned to boil water. Thankfully, I have a family that has a love for food, and so their encouragement has helped me not to give up!

My involvement with Boston Bakes For Breast Cancer has come at the perfect time, where, I don’t know about you, but for me, the holiday season means feasts’ upon more feasts’ of the best homemade treats. I am pleased to announce that I will be hosting a weekly blog where cooking gadgets are the top-dog. I will research and explore endless crates & barrels in order to bring you the most delicious trends in kitchen accessories.

Cooking or baking at home has never been easier because today there is almost any tool available to aid you in your biggest kitchen nightmares. So look for my blog every Thursday, and I’ll give you the inside scoop on the hottest kitchen gadgets available that will turn you into a Top Chef and have your friends and relatives ‘oooh-ing and ahh-ing’ over your tasty masterpieces!
