The Education of Dee Dee Ricks, an HBO Documentary

By One Comment2 min read

This past September I received an invitation from HBO to attend a screening of their documentary The Education of Dee Dee Ricks. Little did I know that it was a part of the 27th Boston Film Festival at the Stuart Playhouse that my Google alerts seemed not to let me know about!

I definitely recommend you check out the Boston Film Fest which is a week-long event featuring diverse features, documentaries and short films next year.  Many directors and celebrities whose films are being shown come to Boston to be a part of the festivities as well.  I look forward to attending the 28th Boston Film Festival in 2012.

When HBO sends an invitation, how can I say no?  I couldn’t and off I went to the screening. You too will be able to watch The Education of Dee Dee Ricks when it airs on HBO on October 27.  Check your local cable schedule for exact times and set your DVR to watch this documentary about a 39 year old, successful, affluent, self made woman, single mother of 2 young sons who discovers in 2007 she has breast cancer ,the journey it takes her on and the health care lessons she learned.

I don’t want to give too much away but after watching it I had some questions and thought how much I would like to interview Dee Dee Ricks for our Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer Blog.  It could not hurt to email HBO and ask.  To my surprise, Dee Dee agreed to a phone interview.  After I hung up from our conversation I could not stop thinking about the Evolution of Dee Dee Ricks because after the cameras stopped filming Dee Dee Ricks continued to evolve.

Note:

You can see The Education of Dee Dee Ricks on THURSDAY, OCT. 27 (8:30-9:45 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

Come back tomorrow for more my interview with Dee Dee Ricks.
