Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer Turns Sweet 16 May 4-10!

We might be only to be able to see white snow outside beyond our imaginations with icicles hanging off of houses and buildings everywhere.  Temperatures so frigid you can’t imagine that you truly have to go out into it. Snow days galore that affected local business including many of our participants.  Public transportation, traffic and parking are all major inconveniences right now.  This winter is one for the history books.
The days are staying lighter a little longer and we all hope for winter’s end to come sooner rather than later.  With spring comes the 16th Annual Boston Bakes for Breast …

Save the Date for Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer May 5-11!

It is hard to imagine 15 years ago a new event was crated that crossed every socioeconomic demographics and let anyone and everyone help in the fight against breast cancer by simply buying a dessert!  We called it Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer.  It had a catchy ring to it even though if you say it five times fast it becomes a tongue twister.
Small things come in good packages and never could we have imagined how we would grow from 42 participants in our first year to last year over 300 participants in over 90 Massachusetts communities.  Although our name …

335 in 113 in 2013!

Boston is in the process of healing. It will take time.  Strong and united Boston stands.  Listening to Stephen Colbert talk about Boston and who we are, humorous but true! Hearing the national anthem being sung at the Bruin game last night shows our unity and spirit.
The victims and their families are always in our thoughts.  It is still unimaginable but the strength of the community will unite everyone.  We will be dealing with this for a long time to come.  Next year, the Boston Marathon will be bigger and better than ever.
Fundraisers have begun to help and of …

A World without Hostess?

Thanks to my iPad, while I traveling, I can keep up with some news in the States. The news of Hostess closing is surreal to me and no photo of any Hostess or Drake product to add to this blog is necessary. It is the end of something that has been a part of American life.
To go onto the Hostess website and see in black and white “Hostess Brands is Closed” is shocking! All of the products I grew up on are gone or will be shortly. No more chocolate cupcakes with the cream center, snowball cupcakes, ring …

Jewish Tradition The Bakery!

It is early in the morning and having fed my two dogs, I quickly head out the door to go to the Jewish bakery to stand on line to get my 2 round challahs and some other treats for the start of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah.
I am writing this so my grown daughter learns this tradition as well for I am sure she has had no idea that when she was growing up each year after she left for school, I would go to the bakery to stand on a long line to get the challahs for the holiday …
