Halloween Peeps S’mores Bars

Marshmallow Peeps aren’t just eaten during the Easter holiday; they also make an appearance around this time of the year for Halloween. For anyone who has never heard of or tried a peeps before – they are brightly-colored, sugar-coated marshmallow candies that come in different shapes (i.e. chicks, bunnies, pumpkins, ghosts, etc.). They make perfect toppings on cakes, pies, and in a cup of hot chocolate. They’ve become quite popular too; the company has even opened a few retail stores.

I’ve found that most people either love peeps or hate them. I’m actually not a big fan myself, but I don’t mind the …

Carrot Cupcakes

I’m a little obsessed with cupcakes – baking, decorating, and of course, eating these cute morsels. Even though cupcakes seem to be fading from the trendy sweets race, they’re still one of my favorite desserts. I remember when I first became interested in baking during college… I was too intimidated to even attempt following a Martha Stewart recipe. Instead, I’d always reach for a box of Pillsbury cake mix, a red-colored container of Betty Crocker‘s pre-made frosting, and a tube of rainbow sprinkles. Let’s just say that I’ve come a long way these past few years, but I’m still no expert. Now, I …

Birthday Cake Pops

cake push up pops from nycake.com
It’s my birthday so cake I will eat! In honor of my own big day a cake-gadget had to be in order. Even though turning twenty three isn’t a major milestone like turning twenty one or twenty five, as my father reminded me this morning when he called to wish me a happy day, I still think it’s appropriate to talk about cake today.
I found the cutest little gadget that is perfect for a birthday at any age. Similar to the cake-pop maker that I blogged about many Thursdays ago, the Cake Push Up Tubes …

“When in Rome, do as the Romans do” is a popular idiom meaning when you are visiting a different place or culture, you should try to follow their customs and practice. Whenever I travel, whether it be within the states or outside of the states, I try to eat what the locals eat. Today’s post will be about popular desserts around the world, specifically from the top 5 travel locations in 2012 according to The New York Times.

Spago Cheesecake! Easy to Make & A Great Cheesecake to Enjoy!

Although today it might be cold and cloudy with a little snow on the grass on this spring day, last weekend I took a break from all my work on Boston Bakes to do something I had not done in a while! Bake!  It felt good to bake something.  The house was filled with wonderful smells, the windows were open and it was a good day.
