Yesterday, as I was waiting for my iced soy hazelnut latte at my local coffee shop, the Barrista behind the counter had a bag full of “cookie crumbles” he was about the throw away. The broken pieces of cookie were still in perfectly good condition, they were just not whole enough to sell. And so, he willingly gave me two bags full of cookie pieces, as to avoid wasting the delicious desserts.

The latest trend in yogurt has been showing up everywhere over the past few years, from grocery stores to coffee shops, convenient stores and more. At first I was skeptical. The plain, sugar-free flavor of greek style yogurt was boring and bland compared to the fruity flavors of Yoplait‘s apple turnover and boston-cream-pie-delights that I was used to.

Q: I was diagnosed with her 2+ breast cancer, stage III, in 2009. I just completed treatment (last Herceptin last month). I have begun to switch to a plant-based diet but still eat a little chicken and fish. I have to avoid soy.
