Who doesn’t like a good banana split? A classic banana split has three scoops of ice cream (one each of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) served between a split banana. The ice cream is usually served with pineapple sauce, chocolate sauce, and strawberry sauce drizzled onto the ice cream, then crushed nuts (generally peanuts or walnuts), whipped cream, and topped with a maraschino cherry. Who doesn’t want to end their day with a banana split?
This recipe for banana split bites doesn’t have ice cream, but it does have chocolate. Although, you could dip the fruit in some ice cream or …
I thought to myself, “what’s the healthiest dessert and snack one could eat?” The first thing that came to mind was fruit. Fruit has limited calories and many nutrients and benefits to protect the body. Mixing many different fruits together gives you a healthy snack that does nothing but good towards your body. Have a side of yogurt with the fruit, and you have yourself the perfect snack to eat and share with others.
How many of you grab something unhealthy like a bag of chips or a couple of cookies for a snack when you’re hungry? I do; I fall …
This summer, I have been practicing eating healthier just to feel great inside and out! One of my favorite meals (or, snacks) is this delicious smoothie I have been making a couple of times a week! I use my Nutribullet but a blender of any sorts works great! The best part about this smoothie is it fills you up and leaves you perfectly satisfied! Also, during this heat this is a great recipe to cool down with!
-2 tbsp. pb2 (this is a healthy peanut butter substitute, regular peanut butter works too)
-1 tbsp. Organic Chia Seeds (optional)
-1 cup strawberries (frozen or …
Being a vegetarian means salad is one of my most beloved food genres. Packed full of nutrients and vitamins, with endless additions and options, salad never gets old for me. I usually have a salad for either lunch or dinner, sometimes both, whether it be a greek salad loaded with tomatoes, kalamata olives and feta, or a Carlton salad with candied pecans, raisins and avocados. I just can’t seem to get enough salad!
When it comes to preparing delightful salads in my own kitchen it can be a little trickier. Having all the fresh veggies at hand, or in fridge, almost …
Soy yogurt from fatfreevegan.com
The latest trend in yogurt has been showing up everywhere over the past few years, from grocery stores to coffee shops, convenient stores and more. At first I was skeptical. The plain, sugar-free flavor of greek style yogurt was boring and bland compared to the fruity flavors of Yoplait‘s apple turnover and boston-cream-pie-delights that I was used to.
But soon enough, greek yogurt worked it’s way into my heart and is now one of my most desired snacks. Chobani is definitely my brand of choice.
The “fruit on the bottom” makes it all worthwhile with flavors like peach …
Last week while I was chatting on the phone with my cousin who lives in Salem, MA, she mentioned her newest kitchen gadget that she just can’t get enough of. When I told her that I’d never heard of it she was taken aback. So I did a little research of my own, and I, too, soon became seduced by the wonder of what is the Slap Chop.
A small, handheld device, with a hollow core and a W-shaped blade concealed within the body of the gadget, the Slap Chop minces and dices a plethora of foods. By “slapping” the lever on the …
I know that in my last post I bragged about where I am, and I’m sorry that I have to do it again but you’ll see why shortly. Currently I am in the glamorous city of Dubai with my best friend. We are visiting her cousins who live here and are having a fabulous time. The weather is great, the sights are stunning and the food is well, truly delicious. I could post 10 things about all the delicious food I have eaten here so far but instead I’m going for a different more available post that everyone can enjoy, …
