Oh My, Pizza Pie!

grilled pizza from chow.com
Summertime means bbq‘s in the back yard every night. So finding new things to throw on the grill is a must, because no matter how tasty the burgers and dogs might be you have to add some variety to the mix.
There are so many things you can grill up for dinner from bbq chicken to swordfish steaks to kabobs of peppers and eggplant. I’ve even heard of grilled watermelon as a substitute for a burger. But one of my favorite things to cook on the grill has to be pizza.
Grilled pizza takes practice. You can’t just do …

Cutest Cookie Sandwiches

This week at Boston Bakes everyone is putting their best dessert forward. From cakes, cookies, pies and more, I decided to join the trend and talk about a gadget that will make some real tasty desserts, and it will take only minutes!
from cuisipro.com
Summer is well on it’s way and as I’m daydreaming of long days at the beach I can’t help but think about the ice cream truck that will soon be ringing it’s bell for all the kids to hear. Ice cream cookie sandwiches were always one of my favorite treats from the ice cream truck. The Cuisipro Mini …

Garlic Gone Wild

Is there any such thing as too much garlic? Some would say yes, and I used to be the first to agree. But over the past couple of years I stopped caring about my fresh breath and started indulging in the delicious flavor whenever possible.
garlic from dothegreenthing.com
When I think of my favorite fully garlic-loaded food my mother’s caesar salad is the first thing that comes to mind. Her homemade dressing isn’t creamy like the typical caesar dressing you’re probably used to. Instead, it’s olive oil based with lots of lemon juice and A LOT of fresh garlic. She even tosses …

Birthday Cake Pops

cake push up pops from nycake.com
It’s my birthday so cake I will eat! In honor of my own big day a cake-gadget had to be in order. Even though turning twenty three isn’t a major milestone like turning twenty one or twenty five, as my father reminded me this morning when he called to wish me a happy day, I still think it’s appropriate to talk about cake today.
I found the cutest little gadget that is perfect for a birthday at any age. Similar to the cake-pop maker that I blogged about many Thursdays ago, the Cake Push Up Tubes …

Yummy Yogurt

Soy yogurt from fatfreevegan.com
The latest trend in yogurt has been showing up everywhere over the past few years, from grocery stores to coffee shops, convenient stores and more. At first I was skeptical. The plain, sugar-free flavor of greek style yogurt was boring and bland compared to the fruity flavors of Yoplait‘s apple turnover and boston-cream-pie-delights that I was used to.
But soon enough, greek yogurt worked it’s way into my heart and is now one of my most desired snacks. Chobani is definitely my brand of choice.
Vanilla Chobani
The “fruit on the bottom” makes it all worthwhile with flavors like peach …

Slap Happy

Last week while I was chatting on the phone with my cousin who lives in Salem, MA, she mentioned her newest kitchen gadget that she just can’t get enough of. When I told her that I’d never heard of it she was taken aback. So I did a little research of my own, and I, too, soon became seduced by the wonder of what is the Slap Chop.
A small, handheld device, with a hollow core and a W-shaped blade concealed within the body of the gadget, the Slap Chop minces and dices a plethora of foods. By “slapping” the lever on the …

On the Chopping Block

Bodum Knife Block
Today’s gadget is simple and subtle, but it might just find a permanent home atop your counter. A modernized version of an average wooden knife block, the Bistro Knife Block made by Bodum is stylish and very practical.
The outside casing of the Bistro is made of hard plastic and inside are thin plastic sticks packed tightly together, resembling the bristles of a broom. The design allows you to place any size knife, anywhere, within the “block” itself. You can store your paring, chopping and chef’s knife all right next to each other.
It takes up only a small amount …

Deliciously Dehydrated

The first time I came across dehydrated food was rather recently. Don’t get me wrong, I had indeed sampled the occasional dried apricot or dried banana chip throughout my life, but it wasn’t until my sister purchased her very own dehydrator that I truly began to understand the benefits.
As opposed to cooking or baking, dehydrating your food maintains most of the nutrients and vitamins which are often lost when cooked with high heat. A dehydrator allows the food to be heated and evenly dried and will throw your taste buds for a twist. Full of both flavor and healthy nutrients, …

A visit to Boston’s boYo!

Last night, I crashed a blogger’s get together at boYo natural frozen yogurt shop in Boston where a group of foodies got together to meet, talk and try boYo frozen yogurt. What a fun evening it was!
Not only was it fun to put faces with the names of those you follow but to see the serious side and the fun side putting foodies in a candy store can be! I was in the good company of Michelle Collins, The Fussy Eater, Christine Liu,Finance Foodie and the Recipe Can.

Greeted by Lori Peljovich who designed and opened boYo two years ago …
