garlic from eatingwell.com
One word: Garlic. I use garlic in so many things when I cook. Tomato sauce, mashed potatoes, stir-fried veggies; they all taste so much better when I add a little (but usually a lot more than a little) garlic.
For the amount of garlic I use when I cook it’s surprising that I don’t own a garlic press. Chopping garlic the old fashion way, mincing and slicing on my wooden cutting board, works pretty well. I still get the same delicious flavor, it just takes a little longer and leaves my fingers smelling like garlic for a couple days, …
grilled meat from myrecipes.com
For this years July 4th cookout my Dad decided to make a pork roast. After he marinated the meat for a day, he cooked the pork shoulder for nine long hours on the grill over hickory-smoked wood chips until it reached peak tenderness. Personally, being a vegetarian, pork isn’t my cup of tea. But the process to prepare this dinner was pretty interesting, none the less.
Something that was as time consuming to prepare as that piece of pork should have incredible flavor. Over-cooking it would be a disaster and a huge waste of time.
And so, the importance …
black pepper from newsduniyaonline.com
Some people are shy when it comes to adding a peppery punch to their tuna salad. But personally, I like to spice things up in the kitchen.
Last week, as I was whipping up an omelette, I noticed the sub-par abilities of my pepper mill. I cranked and cranked, but the pepper only scantily dusted my breakfast.
And so, my hunt for the perfect mill began.
As I was browsing Williams-Sonoma online, I came across the Trudeau Graviti Electric Salt and Pepper Mills. Forget the old, out-dated mill that requires you to grind by hand. The Trudeau mills do all the …
Soy yogurt from fatfreevegan.com
The latest trend in yogurt has been showing up everywhere over the past few years, from grocery stores to coffee shops, convenient stores and more. At first I was skeptical. The plain, sugar-free flavor of greek style yogurt was boring and bland compared to the fruity flavors of Yoplait‘s apple turnover and boston-cream-pie-delights that I was used to.
But soon enough, greek yogurt worked it’s way into my heart and is now one of my most desired snacks. Chobani is definitely my brand of choice.
The “fruit on the bottom” makes it all worthwhile with flavors like peach …
I thought I’d take today’s post to mention a pair of new gadgets that have made their way into my apartment’s tiny kitchen over the past few weeks and which have really made a huge difference in my daily routine. For those of you who dread the approaching hours of the early morning as much as I do, when your alarm will soon be jolting you from the pleasantry of dreamland and into the real world, then you probably head straight for the coffee pot post stretch-and-yawn.
Due to its growing popularity, you’ve probably heard of the newest craze in coffee, …
I can’t tell you where I found this little “magic” whisk but it is one of the best kitchen gadgets that I own. In fact I don’t believe in having just one of these little whisks, I have at least 3 hanging around my kitchen and they are used all the time.
The whisk might be small but it does a great job! I use it to beat eggs, when I make salad dressings, my German pancake batter and just about anything that needs to be mixed. It does the job and you don’t need to use a big whisk that …
I don’t know how many years I have had my Braun immersion blender which not only blends but came with a little chopping attachment which has come in handy so many times.
For chopping small quantities of nuts or herbs, it is easier to take the immersion blender than my food processor and it chops in seconds and is easy to clean.
