Boston Bakes 2011 was dedicated to the memory of our friend Colleen O’Farrell who we saw each year when we would visit the Fox 25 studio in Dedham during the week of Boston Bakes.
All the desserts I enjoyed this week I thought about Colleen O’Farrell just as her husband Pete asked during the Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer Kick-off press conference at the BCAE! As you can see in this very touching story which aired on NECN last week.

Recently I took a class at the BCAE in Boston which I will tell you about at another time with Gordon Hamersley from Hamersley’s Bistro in Boston. The class was incredible but again you will have to wait to read more about the class and why you should take any class that Gordon teaches. He is a teacher and listening to him you learn so much and Gordon shares so much with you. I wished the evening did not end!

NECN’s TV Diner has a segment called Educating Jenny and is taped at BCAE. It is where Jenny Johnson interviews Boston area chefs and is taught something that the chef is demonstrating. If you get a chance to go spend a morning watching the taping you will have a most enjoyable experience. It was fun to do and see and the tastings of what the chefs were demonstrating was an extra bonus!
But Jenny needs no education. She is a pro at shooting the segments, knows what she wants the segments to be, what needs to be taped and the shots …
Being a communications major, I have always been fascinated watching TV shows in the making. So far I have been to taping of game shows, sitcoms and food shows.
