Sunshine and Sweets Getaway…

By No Comments1 min read

This weekend I made my first trip to Singing Beach in Manchester, Ma. About a 40-minute ride on the commuter rail ($13.50 round trip), it was the perfect Sunday escape to get a breath of fresh air. The view is breath taking, leaving me feeling like Dorothy, “were not in MA anymore, are we?

In addition, the sand was fine, the beach was clean, and you had enough room to spread out and relax.

But one of the real gems was Captain Dusty’s ice cream. Right in-between the beach and the train station, this is a great place to grab a treat before heading back the city. All the ice cream is homemade and a variety of selections. Took me awhile to even decide. But in honor of Boston Bakes I went for the Double Fudge Brownie. Warning! The scoops are very generous. However, get there before the end of the summer because they close for the season!

If your planning a outing to the beach remember parking for the beach is $25 and admissions is $5. I would recommend taking the commuter rail if you can. The walk from the station is about half a mile but you don’t have the hassle of dealing with beach traffic when you leave. Besides the extra cash, singing beach is a quintessential New England beach experience.
