The first Monday in September is Labor Day and is dedicated to the American workers!  Something which we should be celebrating daily for the difference they make in our lives! We celebrate them today and thank them for all they do for us.

The first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City in 1882 but that is not when it became a national holiday! Who created the holiday might be unclear but it is something we celebrate proudly every year.

When Labor Day rolls around, it always marks the unofficial end of summer which flies by once Memorial Day comes and is over in a flash when Labor Day arrives.  For us living in the Northeast, fall is in the air and the 3 months I live for are gone. Yes we hope we have an Indian summer or some warm days in September but we never know!

We are back in football mode, the last of the regular baseball season being played, fall activates , fall foliage, bear trees in our future, Halloween candy already in the stores and soon Christmas music and the malls decked out in the holiday spirit well before Thanksgiving even rolls around.

We hope you had a wonderful summer! Wishing you a wonderful Labor Day! Happy September!  More news about Boston Bakes 2014 to come very shortly!
