jazz

Last year I was a little too late to go to the 9th Annual Cape Cod Jazz Festival at the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club.  I am happy to say I made it to one performance during the 10th Annual Cape Cod Jazz Festival which takes place Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during the summer on the Garden Terrace. A wide variety of performers perform all summer long and I enjoyed evening listening to the very talented Grammy nominated Rebecca Parris who was joined in the end by Suede. What a treat the evening was!

But I can’t forget how the evening started with a wonderful dinner at twenty-eight Atlantic, overlooking Pleasant Bay where the food and service is extraordinary!  Greeted with champagne and marvelous treats along the way. I had thought I knew what I wanted until I heard the specials.

In fact I was going to have the Chef’s Four Course Tasting so I would not have to make a decision.  But then I heard the specials, a mushroom risotto with truffles as an appetizer.  Twenty-eight Atlantic is known for their risotto and a truffle is something I have dreamed of enjoying.  Striped bass or stripper as they are known on the Cape, now is their season, how could I not try it!  I could not!  So out went my idea on what I would be ordering!  My friend enjoyed soft shelled crab as an appetizer and scallops as an entrée of course of which I tasted!

I was not disappointed in my choices at all! I could have eaten everything on the menu! The dinner was nice and leisurely and of course I saved room for dessert! The chocolate torte ending the meal had just the right balance of sweetness.

When I made my dinner reservation, I also let them know I was planning on listening to the jazz after so a table was reserved for us. We did not have to worry about rushing through dinner to get a table.  They think of everything at the Wequessett including the view!
