Intern Spotlight Series: Christina Cavallo

By No Comments3 min read

Christina Cavallo

In this week’s Intern Spotlight series, we’re introducing another gifted intern, Christina Cavallo. She is a rising senior at Washington and Lee University (W&L) majoring in environmental studies with outstanding academic performance.

Prior to joining Bakes for Breast Cancer (B4BC), Christina interned as a policy analyst at the National Community Action Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advocates for anti-poverty policy, where she was able to develop her communication and research skills. In addition, as a dedicated member of the W&L’s Women’s Lacrosse Team since 2019, she has gained valuable time management skills through balancing athletic and academic schedules.

Christina joined B4BC in early June as a Social Media Intern, a role that has allowed her to acquire skills in social media management and to learn more about the nonprofit field.

“I didn’t know much about the organization before working for them,” she explained. “But I really love the work they do for the greater cause. And I thought it was creative and interesting how they find specific [breast cancer] researchers.”

Christina enjoys video chatting with Carol Sneider, our founder/president, weekly for project updates and content brainstorming. These meetings have made her a stronger communicator and critical thinker, boosting her overall confidence.

Working with Carol has been a valuable and pleasant experience for Christina since she is accessible and easy to talk to. “It’s nice to have someone so influential in the workplace ready to help you out,” she explained.

Even though Christina is unsure of what career path she wants to pursue, she will continue to focus on her education while being open to other professional opportunities. As an active participant in sports since high school, Christina is intrigued by diverse workouts and outdoor activities, such as hiking, running, and walking. Currently, she is working on her 200-hour yoga teacher certification. In addition, she loves to interact with dogs, which is why she worked as a dog walker at Time2Pet for a year.

Christina is currently binge-watching The Kardashians on Hulu, and her favorite TV show is Modern Family. She also loves to indulge in chocolate doughnuts.

Christina has already done some great work here at B4BC. With her passion and experience in the nonprofit field, we believe Christina will continue to hone her skills while making a real difference in our organization. We look forward to her seeing her grow and flourish during her internship.

Please stay tuned for the next installment in our Intern Spotlight Series for more interesting facts about our interns. And don’t forget to follow our Instagram and Facebook pages to check out Christina’s latest social media work.
