Is it coincidence that Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer 2014 starts on Cinco de Mayo-a day to celebrate with food and drink? I don’t think so! So while you are celebrating the festivities of Cinco de Mayo with food and drink celebrate it with dessert as well! Visit a Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer participant, save room for dessert and help us raise money for breast cancer one sweet at a time!
Many of our participants have celebrations for Cinco de Mayo! Check out Jose’s Mexican Restaurant, Picante Mexican Grill, El Pelon Taqueria, and Viva Mexican Grill to name a few, …
grilled pizza from chow.com
Summertime means bbq‘s in the back yard every night. So finding new things to throw on the grill is a must, because no matter how tasty the burgers and dogs might be you have to add some variety to the mix.
There are so many things you can grill up for dinner from bbq chicken to swordfish steaks to kabobs of peppers and eggplant. I’ve even heard of grilled watermelon as a substitute for a burger. But one of my favorite things to cook on the grill has to be pizza.
Grilled pizza takes practice. You can’t just do …
After working on Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer for almost a year, Boston Bakes is half gone and I have not gotten to enjoy all the desserts I want! There are so many choices but not enough time!
Maybe next year selfishly I will try to make Boston Bakes longer than 7 days to give me more time to get to more restaurants, bakeries, ice cream and chocolate shops and order more on our Shop page and raise even more money for breast cancer!
One stop I did make on the first day of Boston Bakes was to Ula’s Cafe in Jamaica …
It’s the greatest week of the year at Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer – the week where restaurants, bakeries and local businesses alike all come together for a great cause and donate their time and money and, of course, their desserts! This wonderful week culminates on Mother’s Day. I will be sure to include some ‘Baked for Breast Cancer’ dessert for my mom this year.
When I think of my cancer treatment as a journey, I picture myself riding a motorcycle with my mom in the sidecar. We are both wearing sunglasses and do’ rags in my imagined fantasy, both our …
This Mother’s Day, give the gift of the mammogram nag.
Reach out to those mothers and grandmothers that you know haven’t been getting annual mammograms and remind them that it is time for them to get that mammogram they have been putting off for so long.
You will hear the usual excuses for not getting a mammogram:
Too busy…no woman is so busy that she can’t take a half hour to have a life-saving screening
Can’t afford it…Call local Departments of Health for sites that offer free mammograms
Afraid of the outcome…most of us are afraid, but we are more afraid of having breast cancer
Did you make your reservation to take your mother out yet? We have over 275 restaurants, cafes, bakeries and chocolate shops for you to go to and help raise money for breast cancer at the same time!
Make a reservation at one of our participating restaurants and cafes for this year’s Mother’s Day and save room for dessert! Why you may ask? At each of our participating restaurants they are offering a special dessert for Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer and each time you order the special Boston Bakes dessert the money will go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to be used …
