It is hard to imagine 15 years ago a new event was crated that crossed every socioeconomic demographics and let anyone and everyone help in the fight against breast cancer by simply buying a dessert! We called it Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer. It had a catchy ring to it even though if you say it five times fast it becomes a tongue twister.
Small things come in good packages and never could we have imagined how we would grow from 42 participants in our first year to last year over 300 participants in over 90 Massachusetts communities. Although our name …

We honestly don’t know where the time goes. Yesterday it seems summer just started and now the trees are bare. Breast Cancer Awareness Month came and went already! When you are young and in school the school year seems to last forever. As you get older, time goes quickly.
We did not write much about Breast Cancer Awareness Month because we feel Bakes for Breast Cancer is pink 24/7 365! All year long we are pink and work hard to raise money for breast cancer! There is not a day that goes by where we don’t work on our events- Boston …
Paying $10 for an unlimited amount of ice cream sounds like a good deal to me, especially when that money goes to cancer research. So, I went down to City Hall last week for the Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl. As to be expected, it was pretty crowded – I was there on the last day it was open and there were more teenagers and kids than I could count.
The vendors present were Baskin-Robbins, Ben & Jerry’s, Blue Bunny, Breyer’s, Edy’s, Friendly’s, Hood, Byrne Dairy, and Fresh Mango. The friend I went with is lactose intolerant so we were looking out …
One of the best things about summer is the sheer amount of outdoor activities. And one of my favorite things to do is check out food festivals when I have a chance. Food festivals/events are a good way to sample different foods, whether they celebrate a specific culture, a charity, or are just a fun way to bring people together. As we start off the month of June, here are some food festivals happening in and around Boston (titles link to official/ticket sites):
SoWa Open Market: This isn’t strictly a food festival and has three different locations covering three blocks. The …

What a week it was! Boston Bakes 2013 was dedicated to a very special and kind woman who lost her battle to breast cancer, Anna Guarino at the age of 60. She gave so much to her family and community and is missed by all who knew her. She lives in the heart of …
