This past weekend I attended Harpoon Fest for the first time! Harpoon Fest is an annual festival held at the Harpoon Brewery in the Seaport district of Boston. There was perfect weather for it, and since it’s so close to the ocean, there was a nice breeze too. The festival is a way for you to taste the different kinds of beer that Harpoon makes. Beer isn’t usually my first choice (I’m usually a fruity drinks, margarita type), but it was fun to try something new.
My favorite kind ended up being the UFO White beer. It’s on the lighter side and has a sweet, orange taste to it. My friend liked the Raspberry Hefeweizen the most, a pinkish colored raspberry beer. The Harpoon Summer Beer was pretty good too! Local bands played at two different stages throughout the event, so it was cool to check them out.
The only other brewery I had ever been to was the Heineken brewery in Amsterdam, and I have to say that I enjoyed the Harpoon one more. Heineken only allowed you to try one type of beer, while Harpoon gave you a variety of options. Harpoon also has the advantage of having a great location. The next Harpoon Fest takes place in October, so even if your not a huge beer drinker, I would still recommend it. The festival is a day time event, but it’s located down the street from Atlantic Beer Garden if you’d like to continue your beer tasting into the night.
