I’ve been drinking a smoothie for second breakfast (I hate the word “snack”) for a few months now. It’s always good to get some fruits in before lunch: I think it sets the tone for the rest of the day to eat healthy.
Here are four recipes in my regular rotation:
Tropical avocado smoothie
1 avocado
Juice of 1 small orange
3/4 cup frozen mango
3/4 cup vanilla almond milk
The avocado gives the smoothie a thick, creamy texture. If you need to add a little extra liquid, add a little more orange juice or a few ice cubes.
Cherry almond
1 cup cherries
1 cup almond milk
2-3 Tbsp almond butter
Some studies have shown that cherries help prevent and fight cancer.
Raspberry green tea
1 1/2 cups frozen raspberries
1 cup vanilla almond milk
1/2 tsp matcha powder
Raspberries are a great source of ellagic acid, which according wo WebMD, may cause cancer cells to die and help your liver neutralize cancer-causing chemicals in your system. Green tea contains flavanoids, which help prevent some kinds of cancer.
Michael Pollan’s banana blueberry smoothie
1 banana
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup vanilla soy milk
1 tsp ground flaxseed
Blueberries contain the highest number of antioxidants of any fruit.
